OGRA sets LPG maximum consumer price at Rs279.34 per kg

October 01, 2026 (MLN): Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has notified the maximum consumer price of LPG at Rs279,341.49 per metric tonne, or Rs3,296.23 for an 11.8kg cylinder (Rs279.34 per kg), effective October 1, 2026.

The price applies at all levels of the supply chain for both indigenous and imported LPG.

The notification, dated September 30, 2026, was issued by OGRA Executive Director under Section 6(2)(r) of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority Ordinance, 2002, read with Rule 18(1) of the LPG (Production & Distribution) Rules, 2001.

It follows advice from the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division) and Clauses 3.4.1 and 3.4.5 of the LPG Policy 2016, and supersedes the notification of August 31, 2026.

The producer price, including excise duty of Rs85 per tonne but excluding petroleum levy, is Rs197,061.08 per tonne, based on a 40% propane and 60% butane mix.

Adding petroleum levy of Rs4,669 per tonne and 18% GST of Rs36,311.41 takes the maximum producer price with GST to Rs238,041.49 per tonne (Rs2,808.89 per cylinder).

On top of this, marketing, distribution and transportation margins add Rs35,000 per tonne (Rs413 per cylinder).

These are Rs17,000 for marketing, Rs10,000 for distribution and Rs8,000 for transportation. GST of Rs6,300 per tonne on the margins brings the consumer price to the final figure.

Under Clause 3.4.5 of the LPG Policy 2016, the price is a ceiling, so producers, marketing companies and distributors may sell below it.
