OGDC-led consortium appraises gas discovery in TAL Block

March 26, 2026 (MLN): Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (PSX: OGDC), along with its joint venture partners, has appraised an existing gas discovery at the Bilitang-1 ST-1 exploratory well in the TAL Block, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 

The joint venture, comprising MOL Pakistan Oil & Gas Co. B.V. (operator), Pakistan Petroleum Limited, Pakistan Oilfields Limited, and Government Holdings Private Limited, confirmed gas and trace condensate from the Lumshiwal formation at the Bilitang-1 ST-1 exploratory well in Kohat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The well, spudded in August 2025 and later sidetracked to target improved reservoir quality, was drilled to a depth of 4,004 meters.

Testing results showed gas flows of approximately 26.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) at a wellhead flowing pressure of 4,214 psi, based on log data interpretation.

The appraisal reduces exploration risk in the TAL Block and opens up additional drilling prospects in the area, the companies said in a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

The discovery is expected to contribute to Pakistan’s energy security by adding to domestic hydrocarbon reserves, amid the country’s ongoing efforts to reduce reliance on imported fuels.
