February 16, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan’s largest exploration firm, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, has sharply increased crude output from its Kal-03 well in Punjab following a successful intervention aimed at reviving production from mature assets.

The well, located in Chakwal district, was previously producing about 50 barrels of oil per day (BPD) under natural flow.

After a planned workover, including Multistage Physico-Chemical treatment and installation of an electric submersible pump, output has surged to roughly 750 BPD, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The intervention at Kal-03 well forms part of OGDCL’s broader production-optimization strategy, which targets output stabilization and incremental gains from aging fields amid declining natural reservoir pressure.

Pakistan’s upstream sector increasingly relies on such enhancement techniques to offset depletion at legacy sites and curb import dependence, particularly as new large discoveries remain limited.

The disclosure was made under securities regulations for dissemination to market participants.
