OGDC expands production with Jhal Magsi Gas Field Commissioning

August 18, 2025 (MLN): Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (PSX: OGDC) has successfully completed and commissioned the Jhal Magsi Development Project located in the remote region of District Jhal Magsi, Balochistan.

The project is currently delivering approximately 14 Million Standard Cubic Feet per Day (MMSCFD) of pipeline-quality gas and 45 Barrels per Day (BPD) of condensate.

The produced gas has been injected into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network, following the construction of a 98-kilometer gas transportation pipeline from the Jhal Magsi field to the designated tie-in point.

Development activities commenced in February 2024 after the Government of Pakistan approved incentives for the project including its conversion from the 1997 Petroleum Policy to the Marginal Field Gas Pricing Policy.

The project was prioritized to meet national energy requirements and executed on an accelerated timeline, overcoming significant technical and territorial challenges.

The scope of work included installation of an Amine Unit, Dehydration Unit, Hot Oil Package, power generation facilities, and gathering systems.

The Jhal Magsi Field comprises two wells and is operated by OGDCL with a 56% working interest. Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) and Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL) hold 24% and 20% working interests, respectively.

OGDCL stated that the successful commissioning of the Jhal Magsi Development Project stressed its commitment to enhancing national energy security through sustainable development of domestic hydrocarbon resources.
