Nishat Chunian Profit more than triples, nears Rs2bn in 1QFY27

October 21, 2026 (MLN): Profit after taxation of Nishat Chunian Limited (PSX: NCL) rose more than three-fold to Rs1.73bn for the three months ended September 30, 2026, compared with Rs516.16m in the same period last year.

Basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) climbed to Rs7.21 from Rs2.15 in the corresponding quarter last year.

The growth came from a stronger gross margin, a nearly nine-fold jump in other operating income and a 22.85% cut in finance cost. Higher operating expenses and a heavier tax charge partly offset the gains.

Revenue grew 4.87% to Rs24.06bn from Rs22.94bn. Cost of sales rose at a slower pace of 2.81% to Rs20.86bn from Rs20.29bn, lifting gross profit 20.57% to Rs3.20bn from Rs2.65bn.

Distribution cost increased 5.02% to Rs555.31m from Rs528.76m, and administrative expenses rose 5.99% to Rs189.28m from Rs178.58m. Other operating expenses jumped nearly seven-fold to Rs359.73m from Rs53.04m. Together, these expenses grew 45.23% to Rs1.10bn from Rs760.39m.

As a result, operating profit before other income edged up 10.66% to Rs2.09bn from Rs1.89bn.

Other operating income rose nearly nine-fold to Rs973.29m from Rs109.07m, taking profit from operations up 53.26% to Rs3.07bn from Rs2.00bn.

Finance cost fell 22.85% to Rs924.27m from Rs1.20bn, providing significant relief.

Profit before levy and taxation rose more than 2.6-fold to Rs2.14bn from Rs803.28m. Levy plunged 99.90% to Rs0.23m from Rs225.54m, lifting profit before taxation more than 3.7-fold to Rs2.14bn from Rs577.74m.

Taxation rose more than six-fold to Rs410.68m from Rs61.58m, which absorbed part of the gains and left profit after taxation at Rs1.73bn.
