NEPRA revises K-Electric tariff, lowers rate to Rs32.37/unit

October 21, 2025 (MLN): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority issued its decision on motions of leave for review filed by various parties regarding K-Electric Limited's (PSX: KEL) Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) determinations. This follows the company's earlier disclosure to the exchange dated October 20, 2025.

The review covered NEPRA's decisions on K-Electric's Multi-Year Tariff determination for its Generation Power Plants, the MYT determination for its Transmission business, Distribution network business, and Supply business for the period FY 2024 to FY 2030, the Transmission and Distribution Investment Plan and Losses Assessment for the same period, and the write-off claims of K-Electric for MYT 2017-2023.

NEPRA has maintained its earlier decision with respect to the write-off claims. However, with reference to all other decisions mentioned above, NEPRA has drastically changed its earlier determinations.

The average tariff previously revealed by NEPRA at Rs39.97 per kilowatt-hour on May 27, 2025, has been reduced to Rs32.37 per kilowatt-hour.

K-Electric stated that the revised decisions would not be sustainable for the company and would also have significant consequences for its stakeholders, including its consumers.

The company is currently reviewing the decisions in detail and will exercise available remedies as permitted under the applicable laws and regulatory framework.
