September 02, 2026 (MLN):  The National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL) has rolled out a Minor Trading Account, enabling individuals below the age of 18 to participate in the capital market for the first time, backed by dedicated KYC onboarding, guardian linkage, and account monitoring controls.

The development was communicated through a circular issued on September 1, 2026, in continuation of an earlier notice dated July 27, 2026, addressed to all Authorized Intermediaries (AIs), Clearing Members (CMs), and investors.

Under the new framework, minor KYC onboarding will be conducted in the minor's own name based on a valid B-Form, CRC, or Juvenile Card, with the record linked to the guardian's Unique Identification Number (UIN).

Where a guardian does not already hold an active Unique KYC Number (UKN), the guardian's KYC registration and UKN issuance will be completed first, after which the minor's UKN application may proceed.

Each minor will be issued an independent UKN, tagged to the guardian's UIN, and only guardians with an active UKN will be eligible to initiate a minor's UKN application.

To manage the transition out of the framework, the system will generate an automatic notification a month before a minor turns 18, prompting the relevant AI to begin the process of opening a Normal or Regular Account.

If the transition is not completed by the time the minor reaches 18, the account will be blocked until the required formalities are finalized.

NCCPL highlighted several benefits of the new structure, including streamlined onboarding, independent identification for minors, automated pre-maturity monitoring, and reduced manual follow-up for intermediaries, stating that the initiative is fully compliant with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan's (SECP) revised regulatory framework.

The company has also scheduled an awareness session on the Minor Trading Account for September 7, 2026, and has asked all clearing members to ensure participation from their operational and compliance teams.

The aforementioned information was disseminated through a notification to Exchange.
