NCCIA told to intensify action against online financial fraud

September 28, 2026 (MLN): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to intensify action against organized networks involved in online financial fraud, fake accounts, digital blackmail and online harassment.

Naqvi issued the directives while chairing a meeting at the Central Zone Headquarters of the NCCIA in Lahore on Sunday, according to Radio Pakistan.

The minister directed authorities to take indiscriminate action against organized groups involved in cybercrime and strengthen the agency’s ability to investigate cases involving financial fraud and digital exploitation.

He specifically called for an immediate response mechanism for complaints involving financial fraud, directing relevant authorities to improve coordination with institutions concerned so that victims’ funds can be secured as quickly as possible.

The mechanism should also improve the ability of investigators to trace suspects and follow the movement of funds involved in fraudulent transactions, according to the report.

Naqvi further directed the NCCIA to strengthen its digital forensic capabilities and make greater use of modern forensic tools in cybercrime investigations.

He also called for specialized training for investigation officers to improve their ability to handle increasingly sophisticated forms of cybercrime.

The directives cover online financial fraud, digital blackmail, fake accounts and harassment, with the minister calling for action against organized groups rather than isolated cases.

The government has increasingly focused on digital crime as the expansion of onlinea banking, digital payments and social media has created new channels for financial fraud and other cyber offences.
