NCCIA arrests suspect in Lahore over Rs35bn fraud

October 21, 2026 (MLN): The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested Faheem Akram in Lahore for his alleged role in an online fraud worth Rs35 billion involving counterfeit American postage stamps.

NCCIA Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi reviewed the operation in a Zoom meeting with senior officers, attended by Deputy Director Hassan Sajjad Naqvi, Deputy Director Lahore Waqas Saeed and Additional Director Lahore Atif Ameer, APP reported.

An NCCIA official said the suspect allegedly ran a website selling fake US postage stamps, causing the United States Postal Service estimated losses of over $126mn.

He added that the suspect was wanted by US authorities in connection with the case, which involved the online sale of more than 5mn counterfeit postage labels.

During the meeting, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi commended the officers involved in the arrest for their professional skills, hard work and effective strategy.

He directed them to keep up operations against cybercriminals with the same dedication, professionalism and commitment.

Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said safeguarding citizens from financial fraud, online scams and other cybercrimes remained a core responsibility of the agency.
