NBP appeal dismissed, clearing path for pensioners

fSeptember 17, 2026 (MLN): In a significant ruling concerning employee pensions and retirement financial rights, the Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan officially dismissed an appeal filed by the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) on September 16, 2026.

The decision brings finality to Civil Appeal No. 1688/2021, titled National Bank of Pakistan & others vs. Khawaja Abdul Hameed Nasir & others, effectively ruling against the bank's long-standing challenge.

With the dismissal of the appeal, the path has been cleared for NBP pensioners to receive official government-approved increases in their pensions.

The judgment reinforces previous directives concerning the financial rights of retired employees, ensuring they benefit from standard increases previously contested by the institution.

Following the court's pronouncement, Acting Company Secretary Mehnaz Salar formally communicated the development to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on September 17, 2026.

Filed in accordance with Clause 5.6.1 of the PSX Rule Book, the notification noted that while the appeal has been dismissed, the complete and detailed text of the full judgment remains awaited.
