November 12, 2025 (MLN): The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) are moving closer to formalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) designed to boost cooperation in the fight against corruption, financial crimes, and money laundering, as per press release issued.

During a meeting at NAB Headquarters, Acting Chairman Sohail Nasser and NCA Director-General Graeme Biggar CBE reaffirmed their commitment to advancing joint efforts in accountability and transparency.

The session focused on finalizing the MoU, which will establish a structured mechanism for information sharing, capacity building, and asset recovery.

Acting Chairman Nasser highlighted the existing strong cooperation and synergy between NAB and the UK’s anti-corruption agencies, emphasizing that current collaboration through formal and informal channels has already yielded positive results.

He noted, however, that the proposed MoU will represent a significant milestone transforming these efforts into a more institutionalized and effective partnership.

The agreement is expected to strengthen operational coordination between Pakistan and the UK, ensuring swift information exchange and enhanced response mechanisms in complex financial crime cases.

It will also facilitate joint initiatives in areas such as forensic accounting, money laundering investigations, and advanced prosecution techniques.

In line with NAB’s focus on professional development, Nasser introduced the NCA delegation to the Pakistan Anti-Corruption Academy (PACA), a recently established institution dedicated to enhancing the skills of anti-corruption professionals.

The NCA delegation expressed interest in collaborating with PACA and invited NAB officers to participate in upcoming training programs, particularly those related to cryptocurrency and emerging financial threats.

Both agencies agreed to broaden their partnership through exchange of expertise and human resource development, reinforcing their shared vision of building a transparent, accountable, and corruption-free global environment.

The meeting underscored the joint resolve of Pakistan and the United Kingdom to deepen institutional cooperation, promote integrity, and strengthen international efforts against financial misconduct.
