Murree Expressway ready ahead of PM inauguration

January 09, 2026 (MLN): The Islamabad Murree Expressway (IMDC) has completed all major development works and is ready for inauguration.

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan conducted a detailed inspection of the expressway, reviewing completed beautification, expansion, and other infrastructure improvements.

A new toll plaza equipped with M-Tag has also become operational, providing modern services to tourists and commuters, according to the press release.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) has ensured high construction standards across the project, including improved lighting, green areas, service roads, and the removal of road cuts and encroachments to enhance travel safety.

The project is expected to offer a more comfortable and pleasant travel experience for tourists visiting Murree from across the country.

Abdul Aleem Khan directed that mosques be constructed at rest areas on both sides of the expressway, with separate prayer arrangements for women, along with ablution areas and other allied facilities.

He emphasized that all remaining works should be completed within a week while maintaining long-lasting construction quality.

Tourists who visited the expressway expressed appreciation for the upgraded facilities and improvements, noting that the route is now modern, attractive, and well-equipped.
