February 26, 2026 (MLN): Mughal Energy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mughal Iron & Steel Industries Limited, has reached a significant milestone in the development of its 36.50-megawatt hybrid power facility.

The company confirmed that steam blowing of the boiler and main steam lines has been completed, followed by controlled cooling-down procedures, marking a key step in commissioning the plant.

Final testing and safety checks are now underway, with commercial power generation expected to begin in March 2026.

The hybrid plant, part of Mughal Energy’s strategy to strengthen its captive power capacity, is designed to support the parent company’s steel operations while contributing to the local energy mix.

The move aligns with ongoing trends in Pakistan, where industrial players are increasingly investing in self-generation capacity to mitigate reliance on the national grid.
