Mehmood Arshad takes charge of EFP economic council

April 30, 2026 (MLN): Mehmood Arshad has been appointed as the Chairman of the Economic Council of the Employers’ Federation of Pakistan (EFP), following a decision taken by the newly elected Board of Directors in its recent meeting.

Mr. Mehmood Arshad, already serving as a member of the EFP Board, brings extensive experience in economic diplomacy, financial services, and corporate governance, according to the press release.

He currently holds the position of Group Executive Director at Pak-Qatar Group and serves on the boards of several leading domestic and international organisations.

Welcoming the appointment, the EFP leadership expressed confidence that his expertise and strategic insight would strengthen the Economic Council’s role in advancing policy dialogue and supporting sustainable economic growth in Pakistan.

Commenting on his new responsibility, Mr. Arshad said the Economic Council would continue to focus on promoting exports and attracting foreign investment to support the country’s economic development.

He further noted that evolving geopolitical dynamics have enhanced Pakistan’s strategic and economic significance, creating new avenues for growth and opportunity.

The Employers’ Federation of Pakistan reiterated its commitment to improving the business environment, fostering engagement between the private sector and policymakers, and contributing to economic progress through research-driven advocacy and policy input.
