Mari Energies discovers gas at Tibri-1 in Balochistan

January 26, 2026 (MLN): Mari Energies Limited (PSX: MARI) has reported a significant gas discovery at the Tibri-1 exploratory well in the Kalchas South Block, located in Dera Bugti District, Balochistan, according to a company statement submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

The Kalchas South joint venture, operated by United Energy Pakistan Limited (UEPL) with a 46% working interest, includes Mari Energies holding 44% and Dewan Petroleum (Pvt.) Limited (DPL) with 10%.

Tibri-1, the first exploratory well in the block, was spudded on November 11, 2025, and drilled to a total depth of 7,170 feet.

Initial testing of the Dunghan/Sui Main Limestone (SML) formation yielded gas at a flow rate of 11 MMSCFD at a 64/64″ choke with a wellhead flowing pressure of 561 psig, and 6.5 MMSCFD at a 32/64″ choke with a wellhead pressure of 1,161 psig.

Further testing is ongoing to assess the well’s full potential.

The area had remained largely inactive for several years due to security concerns.

Following Mari Energies’ acquisition of DPL’s working interest in July 2023, exploration resumed, culminating in the Tibri-1 discovery and highlighting the joint venture’s commitment to developing Pakistan’s domestic hydrocarbon resources.
