Mari Energies clarifies Spinwam Gas Bid

June 11, 2026 (MLN): Mari Energies Limited's bidding process for the sale of up to 35% gas from the Spinwam Gas Field is being conducted in full compliance with Pakistan’s regulatory framework, after media reports raised questions over licensing requirements.

In a clarification submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the company stated that the process follows the Council of Common Interests (CCI)-approved framework, the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Policy 2012, OGRA Ordinance 2002, and the Third Party Access regime, among other applicable rules.

Mari Energies emphasized that all regulatory approvals, including an OGRA licence, will be secured prior to the execution of any commercial agreements or commencement of gas supply.

The company said no exemption, relaxation, or special treatment has been sought in this regard.

The statement further noted that the licensing requirement is not intended as a pre-bid restriction limiting participation to existing license holders, but rather as part of a competitive and transparent framework aimed at ensuring a level playing field and optimal utilization of domestic gas resources.

The company added that no Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement will be finalized, nor any gas supply initiated, until all necessary approvals are in place from the relevant authorities.
