October 27, 2026 (MLN): Consolidated profit for the period of Maple Leaf Cement Factory Limited (PSX: MLCF) rose 54.19% year-on-year to Rs4.21bn for the three months ended September 30, 2026, compared with Rs2.73bn in the same period last year.

Basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) increased 36.15% to Rs3.54 from Rs2.60 in the corresponding quarter last year.

The growth came from a near doubling of revenue and a more than doubling of gross profit. A more than six-fold jump in finance cost, a steep share of loss from an associated company and a doubled tax charge partly offset the gains.

Net revenue from contracts with customers rose 87.57% to Rs30.92bn from Rs16.48bn. Cost of sales grew at a slower pace of 72.01% to Rs18.73bn from Rs10.89bn, lifting gross profit more than two-fold to Rs12.18bn from Rs5.59bn.

Selling and distribution expenses edged up 3.60% to Rs802.15m from Rs774.27m, while administrative expenses rose 82.91% to Rs1.07bn from Rs586.88m.

Net impairment loss on financial assets increased 78.89% to Rs161.00m from Rs90.00m, and other expenses more than doubled to Rs551.42m from Rs232.09m. Other income fell 28.87% to Rs353.96m from Rs497.59m.

Net of other income, expenses grew 88.43% to Rs2.23bn from Rs1.19bn.

As a result, operating profit more than doubled, rising 125.81% to Rs9.95bn from Rs4.41bn.

Finance cost surged more than six-fold to Rs2.47bn from Rs396.71m, while finance income rose 25.73% to Rs77.17m from Rs61.37m. Net finance cost jumped more than seven-fold to Rs2.39bn from Rs335.34m.

The company also recorded a share of loss in an associated company of Rs683.13m, against Rs3.09m last year.

Profit before final taxes and income tax grew 68.93% to Rs6.87bn from Rs4.07bn. Final taxes (levy) were unchanged at Rs16.74m, and profit before income tax rose 69.21% to Rs6.85bn from Rs4.05bn.

Income tax doubled to Rs2.65bn from Rs1.32bn, which absorbed part of the gains and left profit for the period at Rs4.21bn.
