October 29, 2026 (MLN): Citing growing domestic and export
demand for cement and clinker, the board of Lucky Cement Limited (PSX: LUCK)
has approved multiple projects to expand production capacity at its Karachi
plant and strengthen its energy infrastructure.
The projects together make up a 3.20 million tons per annum
(MTPA) brownfield expansion at the Karachi plant. They will be integrated with
the cement grinding facility currently being installed there.
Once the projects are complete, the plant’s installed cement
capacity is expected to rise to 8.55 MTPA. Commercial operations are estimated
to begin by December 2027.
Together with the installed cement capacity at the Pezu
plant, the company’s total capacity in Pakistan is expected to reach 18.80
MTPA.
The board has also approved several energy projects to
improve energy efficiency and support long-term growth.
These include additional wind turbines with a combined
capacity of 22.5MW and a 10MW waste heat recovery (WHR) plant at the Karachi
plant, as well as a 15MW solar power plant and a 15MW battery energy storage
system (BESS) at the Pezu plant.
Targeted completion dates and the renewable energy capacity

energy capacity for its cement operations is expected to meet about 60% of its
energy requirements, including those of the new 3.20 MTPA brownfield expansion
at Karachi.

that it is committed to expanding its portfolio of products and businesses,
with a focus on improving the quality of earnings and maximizing shareholder
value.
Besides local and international cement operations, its
diversified portfolio includes automobiles, chemicals and agricultural
