Kohat Cement clarifies no court order to halt coal-fired plant project

July 13, 2026 (MLN): Kohat Cement Company Limited has clarified that no court order has been issued to stop work on its ongoing 28.5-megawatt Coal Fired Power Plant (CFPP) project, following media reports regarding proceedings before the Peshawar High Court.

In a notice submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company stated that the Peshawar High Court has not directed the suspension of construction or development work on the project.

According to the company, the coal-fired power plant is progressing in line with the approvals granted by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Kohat Cement further stated that the court has directed that the plant's operations will be subject to EPA approval, describing this as a standard requirement under the applicable environmental laws.

The company reiterated its commitment to operating the 28.5MW CFPP in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, guidelines, and standard operating procedures issued by the competent authorities, including the EPA.

"The disclosure is intended to set the record straight," the company said in its filing to the PSX.
