August 10, 2026 (MLN): Karandaaz Pakistan has
entered into a partnership with Kissan Gudam, a venture of the Hajisons Group,
to provide funding and strategic support aimed at strengthening Pakistan's
farming communities and modernising the agricultural ecosystem.
The collaboration brings together modern storage
infrastructure, digital financial services, and direct market access on a
single platform, enabling smallholder farmers to protect their yields, access
fair credit through Electronic Warehouse Receipt (EWR)-based financing, and
secure sustainable livelihoods, while reducing post-harvest losses, boosting
market transparency, and bringing farmers into the formal financial fold.
The signing ceremony was attended by Karandaaz Pakistan
CEO Waqas ul Hasan, Kissan Gudam CEO Farhan Tahir, Kissan Gudam Co-Founder and
CTO Anam Tahir, and Tom A. Peter, Economic Officer at the U.S. Embassy
Islamabad, among others, said a press release issued.
Kissan Gudam brings a model that combines hermetic
storage technology with digital trading and agri-financing, using hermetic
storage solutions from GrainPro, a global provider of post-harvest storage
technology.
Compared with conventional warehouses, GrainPro's
hermetic cocoons are affordable and portable, allowing installation close to
farming communities to cut transportation costs and losses, while preserving
the quality and quantity of stored crops and strengthening their reliability as
collateral.
Backed by this partnership, Kissan Gudam will scale its
post-harvest ecosystem across rural Pakistan, ensuring wider financial
inclusion and equitable growth for farming communities.
Commenting on the partnership, Waqas ul Hasan said
Pakistan's agricultural economy needs more than access to credit; it requires
the infrastructure and market linkages that allow finance to work effectively.
He said the partnership supports a model that can
localise storage close to the farmers who need it and create an ecosystem that
allows them to earn higher returns on their produce, while also enabling the
public sector to step back from commodity markets without compromising national
food security.
He termed the initiative potentially transformational.
Farhan Tahir said equipping farmers with the tools to
preserve the value of their produce, access formal credit, and connect with
better markets builds pathways to financial security, climate-resilient
storage, and stronger livelihoods across rural Pakistan.
He added that the two organisations, through a
centralised digital solution, will combine technology-enabled storage
monitoring with warehouse receipt financing.
Anam Tahir explained that the platform's digital wallet
is linked directly to the warehouse infrastructure, allowing stored produce to
be reliably verified and used as collateral, which unlocks collateral-backed
financing disbursed within minutes instead of the weeks it traditionally took.
Tom A. Peter described the partnership as a strong
example of US-Pakistan collaboration in agriculture, noting that US-based
GrainPro's hermetic storage technology is driving measurable impact for
smallholder farmers and Pakistan's formal agricultural economy.
Through the partnership, Karandaaz Pakistan and Kissan
Gudam aim to digitally transform Pakistan's agricultural value chain by
expanding smallholder farmers' access to modern storage, financial services,
and market opportunities.
