July 14, 2026 (MLN): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) own-source revenue has crossed Rs150 billion for the first time in its history, exceeding the annual target of Rs129bn by more than Rs21bn.
According to the Finance Department, the milestone marks a significant achievement in provincial revenue generation under the leadership of Finance Adviser and Provincial Minister Muzzammil Aslam.
The department said own-source revenue exceeded Rs150bn during the fiscal year, compared to Rs92.701bn collected in the previous year, reflecting an increase of more than 60% year-on-year.
The achievement also comfortably exceeded the government's revenue target of Rs129bn for the year.
"This is a historic milestone for the Finance Department," the department stated, attributing the performance to the dedication and hard work of its team.
Muzzammil Aslam, an economist with over 15 years of experience in economics, equity research, business development, and capital markets, has been serving as Adviser to the Chief Minister on Finance since March 2024.
He was retained in the position following the formation of the new provincial cabinet in November 2025 and was subsequently granted the status of Provincial Minister in March 2026, further strengthening his role in overseeing the province's fiscal and economic affairs.
Before joining the KP government, Aslam served as spokesperson for the federal finance minister in 2021 and later as PTI's spokesperson on finance, economy, and energy. He holds academic qualifications in commerce, public administration, and economics, including a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Bath, United Kingdom.
The record revenue collection underscores the provincial government's efforts to improve domestic resource mobilization, enhance tax administration, and strengthen fiscal management.
