K-IV project reaches 63% completion

July 24, 2025 (MLN): The Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme (K-IV Project) has reached 63% physical completion, with Rs86.4 billion already utilized on construction, following a site visit by Federal Minister for Water Resources, Mian Muhammad Mueen Wattoo.

During his inspection, the minister visited key components of the project, including the intake structure and pumping stations at Keenjhar Lake, the pressurized pipeline to Karachi, water reservoirs, and filtration plants in suburban areas.

The project team briefed him on site-wise progress and timelines.

Expressing satisfaction with the ongoing development, the minister reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to the project's timely completion.

He emphasized the strategic importance of the scheme in addressing Karachi’s water shortage and called for enhanced coordination among stakeholders to eliminate delays.

He also directed consultants and contractors to maintain high construction and quality standards.

As per the official statement, Phase-I of the project is expected to be completed by 2026, contingent upon uninterrupted funding and execution.
