July 20, 2026 (MLN): K-Electric (KE) has partnered with Mashreq Pakistan to offer cashback rewards of up to Rs10,000 to the utility's customers who hold a current account with the bank and pay their electricity bills digitally.

The collaboration brings together KE's expanding digital payments ecosystem with Mashreq Pakistan's digital banking platform, aiming to encourage secure, cashless transactions and support financial inclusion in the country, according to a press release by KE.

Under the offer, all KE customers who hold or open a Mashreq Current or Current Profit Account will be eligible for cashback ranging from Rs500 to a maximum of Rs10,000 on bill payments made through the Mashreq app, subject to applicable terms and conditions.

Digital payments already account for over 70% of KE's overall customer transactions, according to the company, with more than 2.7m customers nearly three-fourths of its total customer base  currently digitally connected, reflecting a growing shift toward convenient payment channels.

The partnership is expected to further this trend by allowing customers to pay bills without queuing up or carrying cash.

Noor Afshan, Head of Marketing & Customer Experience at KE, said the company remained committed to enhancing customer experience by creating greater value and working closely with financial partners to deliver seamless, convenient, and accessible payment solutions.

She added that the rising adoption of digital payments reflected evolving customer preferences, and such partnerships helped the company meet those expectations with greater ease and efficiency.

Aamir Hameed, Country Product Owner at Mashreq Pakistan, said digital banking should create value in customers' everyday lives, noting that utility bill payments were among the most frequent financial transactions people made, making them a natural opportunity to encourage greater adoption of secure digital banking.

He added that the partnership with KE reflected the bank's commitment to delivering practical, rewarding banking experiences while supporting Pakistan's broader transition toward a digital and financially inclusive economy.
