January 16, 2026 (MLN):  Jazz has taken a significant leap forward in strengthening Pakistan’s digital backbone by becoming the first operator in the country to deploy 1.2 terabits per second (Tbps) per wavelength on its optical transport network.

Delivered in partnership with Huawei, the upgrade marks a major step in expanding high-speed, next-generation connectivity nationwide.

The new deployment boosts capacity across Jazz’s core and aggregation networks, allowing the operator to handle rapidly rising data traffic while preparing for future technologies such as advanced cloud services and 5G.

Built with scalability and resilience in mind, the modernized network is designed to meet the evolving needs of both businesses and consumers, according to APP.

Alongside this achievement, Jazz has also set another industry record by rolling out Pakistan’s first 100 Gbps Fiber-to-the-Site (FTTS) ring.

This enhancement significantly improves last-mile fiber performance, enabling faster, more reliable connectivity for enterprise customers, mobile backhaul, and emerging digital applications.

Khalid Shehzad, Chief Technology Officer of JazzWorld, said the milestones demonstrate Jazz’s focus on future-proof network design.

He added that the upgrades will allow the company to support growing traffic demands and complex enterprise requirements without compromising reliability or performance.

These developments highlight Jazz’s continued leadership in network innovation and its long-term vision to support Pakistan’s digital growth.

By investing in advanced optical technologies, the company is helping lay the foundation for a more connected, inclusive, and digitally empowered future.
