September 08, 2026 (MLN): The Special Investment Facilitation
Council (SIFC) has brought on board Japan's Sumitomo Corporation to explore
investment prospects in Pakistan's mining and minerals sector, pointing to
emerging projects with strong potential for foreign capital.
Sumitomo Corporation, a major Japanese
trading and investment conglomerate based in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, is the latest
international investor to be facilitated under SIFC's outreach efforts, APP
reported.
It was noted that the council
continues working to link global investors with Pakistan's key economic sectors
and ease their entry into commercially viable ventures.
SIFC is channelling prospective
investors through a coordinated facilitation mechanism designed to offer
greater clarity on available opportunities, specific projects and the broader
enabling environment.
Furthermore, it was noted that
Pakistan's mining and minerals sector holds considerable scope for exploration,
development, value addition and downstream industrial activity, an area where
SIFC is actively working to draw in international players and expand global
participation.
Backed by stronger investment
facilitation, dedicated security arrangements and a focus on policy continuity,
the council is seeking to build a more predictable, investor-friendly climate
for foreign businesses operating in the country.
The Sumitomo engagement points to
rising international interest in Pakistan's resource base and reinforces SIFC's
position as a central platform for driving investment facilitation,
strengthening investor confidence and converting identified opportunities into
sustainable commercial projects.
