Iranian president arrives in Pakistan today

June 23, 2026 (MLN): Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan today on a state visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, leading a high-level delegation.

According to a statement issued by the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad, President Pezeshkian is visiting the brotherly country of Pakistan to convey the message of the Government and people of Iran to the Government and people of Pakistan following a year marked by solidarity, support, and Pakistan’s mediation efforts aimed at reducing tensions and promoting peace and stability in the region.

The Iranian president is accompanied by ministers and other senior officials. During the visit, he is scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and hold talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Chairman Senate Yousuf Raza Gillani, Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will also call on the Iranian president.

This marks President Pezeshkian’s second visit to Pakistan since assuming office as president of Iran.

During the visit, the two sides will review the current state of bilateral relations and discuss ways to further enhance cooperation and strengthen the longstanding ties between Pakistan and Iran.

Discussions will also focus on expanding collaboration across various sectors, including trade, energy, border security, people-to-people exchanges, and regional connectivity.

The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for both countries to advance their bilateral engagement and reinforce their shared commitment to peace, stability, and sustainable progress in the region.
