Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh appointed Secretary Petroleum

March 06, 2026 (MLN): The Government of Pakistan has transferred and posted Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh, a BS-22 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, as Secretary of the Petroleum Division with immediate effect.

According to a notification issued by the Establishment Division under the Cabinet Secretariat, Sheikh was previously serving as Secretary of the National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Division.

The posting will remain effective immediately and until further notice, the notification stated.

The development is part of routine administrative changes within the federal bureaucracy aimed at filling key positions in the energy sector.

The Petroleum Division plays a central role in overseeing the country’s oil and gas exploration, production, and energy policy framework.

The notification was issued from Islamabad and circulated to relevant government offices for implementation.
