May 06, 2026 (MLN): The government has intensified its consultations with key industry stakeholders ahead of the Federal Budget FY 2026–27, engaging with the Healthcare Devices Association of Pakistan (HDAP) to address critical issues in the healthcare devices sector.

The discussions focused on improving the policy environment, rationalizing taxation, and introducing measures to enhance the availability and affordability of healthcare services while supporting ease of doing business.

The engagement reflects the government’s broader aim of balancing fiscal discipline with sectoral growth and better public health outcomes, according to a press release issued.

In this context, Minister of State for Railways and Finance & Revenue, Bilal Azhar Kayani, held a consultative meeting with a delegation from Healthcare Devices Association of Pakistan at the Ministry of Finance.

The HDAP delegation highlighted challenges faced by the sector and proposed reforms to support sustainable growth, improve efficiency, and strengthen healthcare delivery across both public and private institutions.

The minister appreciated the constructive input from the delegation and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to an inclusive and consultative budget-making process.

He assured participants that their recommendations would be carefully reviewed in shaping the upcoming budget, with a focus on promoting public welfare while maintaining fiscal stability. Senior officials, including the Director General of the Tax Policy Office, also attended the meeting.
