Govt reviews export support measures

June 30, 2026 (MLN): The government reviewed a range of tax and export facilitation measures aimed at improving the business environment, strengthening industrial competitiveness, and supporting export-led growth during a consultative session held at the Ministry of Finance.
The discussions focused on policy
and administrative initiatives to facilitate trade, with particular emphasis on
improving the implementation and effectiveness of the Drawback of Local Taxes
and Levies (DLTL), the Technology Upgradation Fund (TUF), and the Export
Facilitation Scheme (EFS), according to the press release.
Participants exchanged views on
ensuring their timely implementation and enhancing their impact on exporters.
Representatives from the business
and export sectors highlighted proposals to improve the ease of doing business,
enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen Pakistan's export
competitiveness.
The deliberations also reaffirmed
the importance of sustained public-private engagement in advancing sustainable
economic growth.
The consultative meeting was
chaired by the Honourable Minister of State for Finance and Revenue, who
reiterated the government's commitment to maintaining close coordination with
the business community and pursuing policies that support investment, industrial
development, exports, and economic growth.
The Minister further stated that
the Ministry of Finance, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the Ministry
of Commerce would continue working closely with stakeholders to facilitate
trade and reinforce the country's export sector.
The meeting was attended by
representatives of the business community, including Jawed Bilwani, former
President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI); Syed
Ahtisham Mazhar, President of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce & Industry;
Rana Imran; Jamshed Murtaza; Zubair Motiwala, former President of KCCI; Khurram
Mukhtar, Patron-in-Chief of the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association; and
Aslam Pakhali, CEO of FA International.
Senior government officials,
including the Secretary of Commerce, Dr. Hamid Ateeq Sarwar (Member Sales Tax,
FBR), Mohsin (Chief Collector Exports & IOCO), and Ashhad Jawwad (Member
Customs Policy, FBR), also participated in the discussions.
