Govt reaffirms focus on AJK, GB development, public welfare

September 03, 2026 (MLN): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the development of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), with public welfare and prosperity of the regions remaining key priorities.

The Prime Minister expressed these views during a meeting with Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam in Islamabad, according to Radio Pakistan.

He said the government would continue taking all possible steps to promote development and improve the well-being of the people of AJK and GB.

Prime Minister Shehbaz further said the development agenda for both regions would be pursued in line with the vision and guidance of PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

During the meeting, Amir Muqam briefed the Prime Minister on affairs relating to AJK and GB, with particular focus on ongoing development projects and initiatives aimed at improving public welfare.

The Federal Minister also updated the Prime Minister on the recent elections held in Azad Kashmir.
