July 24, 2026 (MLN): The government has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment and improving the ease of doing business through the National Industrial Policy, which is focused on strengthening local industries, boosting productivity and encouraging investment-driven growth.

The assurance was given by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan during a meeting with a delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), led by its President Sardar Tahir Mehmood, on Friday.

The meeting was attended by Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Industries and Production and Chairman of the Export Processing Zones Authority (EPZA), Freedoon Akram Sheikh, according to APP.

During the discussion, the ICCI delegation commended Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Haroon Akhtar Khan for their efforts to promote economic growth, industrial development and public welfare.

Haroon Akhtar said the prime minister has consistently instructed the government to extend maximum facilitation to businesses and investors, while recognizing the private sector as a key contributor to the country's economic progress.

He also highlighted that the government has approved the Regulatory Guillotine Reform Programme, which is currently being implemented to remove unnecessary regulatory hurdles, simplify procedures and establish a transparent, efficient and business-friendly regulatory framework.

He reiterated the government's resolve to ensure a simple, transparent and investment-friendly business environment that supports industrial expansion.

The ICCI delegation also informed the special assistant about its planned trade mission to Türkiye, which aims to explore opportunities for greater trade, investment and business cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close coordination between the government and the private sector to strengthen the economy, promote industrialization and create opportunities for investment, exports and employment.
