November 12, 2025 (MLN): Data-driven technological advancement has been termed essential for Pakistan’s progress in the digital era, as highlighted during the inaugural ceremony of DataFest 2025 organized by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

Addressing the event, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that the government is undertaking multiple initiatives to integrate data and digital tools into governance, economic planning, and national development projects.

He said Pakistan has embarked on a transformative journey aimed at placing the country among the technologically advanced nations of the world, driven by innovation and data-centric development. In an increasingly competitive global environment, he noted, countries that harness data and innovation will lead development, while those neglecting it risk falling behind.

Ahsan Iqbal reaffirmed the government’s vision to transform Pakistan into a knowledge-based economy, where artificial intelligence, data analytics and modern digital infrastructure serve as the foundation for sustainable growth.

The minister also stressed the vital role of youth in driving this transformation, calling for their empowerment through modern digital skills and greater opportunities in data science, information technology and innovation. Such efforts, he said, would strengthen Pakistan’s global competitiveness and long-term development.

The ongoing DataFest 2025 features participation from various government departments, private sector entities, and international organizations, showcasing data-based innovations and digital solutions.

Visitors are attending the festival in large numbers, showing strong interest in the exhibits that underscore the growing importance of data and technology in shaping Pakistan’s development future.
