February 11, 2026 (MLN): The government is leveraging
artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance public service delivery, improve
revenue administration, and promote evidence-based policymaking.
Federal Finance and Revenue Minister Senator Muhammad
Aurangzeb, made these remarks during a panel discussion titled “AI for Public
Service Transformation and SDG Acceleration” at the National Artificial
Intelligence Workshop.
The finance minister stressed that Pakistan’s focus is on
practical AI applications that deliver measurable gains in efficiency,
transparency, and productivity rather than technology for its own sake.
He highlighted that AI-driven tools are being integrated
into ongoing tax reforms through customer relationship management systems,
production monitoring, risk-based compliance mechanisms, and faceless customer
processes to reduce leakages, limit discretionary human intervention, curb
corruption, and generate tangible fiscal gains, said a press release issued.
He also pointed to the establishment of the Pakistan Virtual
Asset Regulatory Authority (PVARA) to regulate emerging digital assets and
safeguard financial stability, while emphasizing the need to invest in youth
skills, blockchain, and data analytics to support productivity-led growth and
address challenges such as climate and population management through
coordinated digital transformation.
The event was also attended by Federal Minister for Climate
Change and Environmental Coordination Dr. Musadik Malik, Federal Minister for
Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and Federal
Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal.
