August 20, 2026 (MLN): In a strategic push to revamp leadership across Pakistan's energy giants, the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises (CCoSOEs) has cleared high-level board appointments for Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and the Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL).

The high-stakes meeting, chaired by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb at the Finance Division, signals an accelerated effort to align major state-run corporate entities with modern governance frameworks.

Key Strategic Approvals

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL): The committee approved the Petroleum Division’s proposal to nominate a new Independent Director to fill a critical vacancy on the board, ensuring full alignment with the State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) Policy 2023.
Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC): Moving to solidify control and strategic direction at the country's largest oil and gas exploration firm, the CCoSOEs formally endorsed nominations for three positions of Independent Directors to reconstitute the company's Board of Directors.

Thees approvals highlight the federal government's broader directive to enforce corporate transparency, strict policy compliance, and performance oversight across vital public-sector energy enterprises.
