Govt keeps petrol price unchanged, diesel sees a Rs3 cut

September 01, 2025 (MLN): The government of Pakistan kept the price of petrol steady at Rs. 264.61 per litre, while reducing rates for other petroleum products in its latest fortnightly review.

High-Speed Diesel (HSD), widely used in transport and agriculture, saw a decrease of Rs. 3.00, bringing the new price to Rs. 269.99 per litre.

Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO) dropped by Rs. 1.46 to Rs. 176.81, and Light Diesel Oil (LDO) was reduced by Rs. 2.40, now priced at Rs. 159.76.

The adjustments, based on global oil trends and domestic fiscal considerations, are expected to offer limited relief to sectors dependent on diesel and kerosene.

Transporters and farmers may benefit from the reduced costs, though the unchanged petrol price signals caution amid inflationary pressures.

The new rates take effect from 1 September 2025.
