October 13, 2026 (MLN): Pakistan has highlighted its progress in macroeconomic stabilization, structural reforms and access to international capital markets during an investor roundtable organized by Barclays, attended by Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Jameel Ahmad.

Muhammad Aurangzeb outlined improvements in the country’s fiscal and external accounts, sustained primary budget surpluses and strengthening foreign exchange reserves.

He also highlighted progress under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, credit rating upgrades and renewed access to global capital markets through private placements and Panda and Eurobond issuances.

The Finance Minister discussed ongoing reforms in taxation, the energy sector and state-owned enterprises, while highlighting privatisation prospects and plans for outsourcing airport operations.

He also pointed to growing investor interest in Pakistan, citing a strong pipeline of initial public offerings (IPOs) and foreign interest in the country’s electricity distribution companies.

During the session, Aurangzeb invited SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad to share insights into inflation trends, monetary conditions and the stability of the external sector.

The roundtable concluded with a question-and-answer session, providing an opportunity for participants to discuss the country’s economic outlook and investment prospects.
