Govt fast tracks N-25 dual carriageway project in Balochistan

January 05, 2026 (MLN): The government has emphasized accelerating construction work on the N-25 National Highway, also declared the project a top priority, as part of a broader push to strengthen infrastructure and development in Balochistan.

The initiative aims to convert the N-25 often described as the lifeline of the province into a modern dual-carriageway expressway.

APP reported that the project marks the beginning of a new era of development, promising improved connectivity, enhanced road safety, and increased economic activity across the region.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti have collectively termed the N-25 project a cornerstone of their long-term development vision for the province.

Construction has formally begun, with rapid progress reported on the Khuzdar–Wadh section.

Heavy machinery, engineers, and a large workforce are operating around the clock to ensure timely completion.

Once completed, the dual-lane expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time, improve safety, and lower accident rates on a route long affected by congestion and hazardous conditions.

Upon completion, travel from Karachi to Chaman is expected to become safer, faster, and more comfortable, improving mobility between major urban centers and remote areas.

The project can be a game changer for Balochistan, placing the province on a path toward sustained economic growth and long-term stability.
