Govt cuts petrol price by Rs4.08/litre, HSD down Rs2.45 from Aug 4

August 03, 2026 (MLN): The government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs4.08 per litre, bringing it down to Rs331.95, while High Speed Diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs2.45 per litre to Rs389.93, effective August 4, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the revised ex-depot prices have been notified by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), based on the pricing mechanism issued by the federal government.

Under the prevailing mechanism, OGRA computes and notifies petroleum prices on a daily basis.

A breakdown of the HSD price shows that the entire Rs2.45 per litre reduction stemmed from a decline in the ex-refinery price, which fell to Rs293.04 per litre from Rs295.49 per litre previously.

The other components of the price build-up, including the Petroleum Levy at Rs70.82 per litre, IFEM at Rs4.56 per litre, the OMC margin at Rs7.87 per litre, the dealer margin at Rs8.64 per litre and CSL at Rs5.00 per litre, remained unchanged, according to Arif Habib.
