Govt courts Deutsche Bank for investment, financing opportunities

September 2, 2026 (MLN): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb discussed Pakistan’s economic outlook, investment opportunities and prospects for expanded engagement with Deutsche Bank during a meeting with Jamal Al Kishi, Regional CEO, Middle East & Africa, Deutsche Bank, accompanied by Ali Haider Zaidi, Country Manager Pakistan.

The Finance Minister highlighted the government’s progress in implementing structural reforms and its efforts to establish a sustainable, export-led growth model. He noted improvements in the fiscal position, external account and overall macroeconomic stability, along with positive assessments from international rating agencies and development partners.

Al Kishi congratulated the Finance Minister and his team on the progress achieved over the past two years, particularly in fiscal consolidation, balance of payments, exports and remittances. He said the improvements had created a stronger foundation for sustainable economic growth.

On external financing, Aurangzeb outlined Pakistan’s medium-term strategy to manage and diversify its external debt while expanding engagement with international capital markets and financial institutions. He stressed the need to broaden access to diversified sources of external financing.

The Finance Minister also highlighted investment opportunities for international and regional investors, particularly Saudi-based companies, in infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, utilities, mining and minerals, technology, blockchain and other productive sectors.

He emphasized greater private-sector participation and efforts to facilitate Saudi multinational companies seeking investment opportunities in Pakistan.

Al Kishi reaffirmed Deutsche Bank’s long-term commitment to Pakistan and expressed interest in expanding its corporate and investment banking offerings and coverage.

He also highlighted opportunities to facilitate stronger engagement between Pakistan and MENA-based, particularly Saudi, companies and explore investment and financing opportunities across key sectors.

Aurangzeb welcomed Deutsche Bank’s continued engagement with Pakistan and emphasized sustained cooperation with international financial institutions and private-sector partners to mobilize investment, deepen financial markets and support long-term economic growth.
