June 19, 2026 (MLN): A commitment to maintaining a business-friendly fiscal environment while supporting agricultural productivity and supply chain efficiency was reiterated on Thursday, as proposals put forward by fertilizer sector stakeholders were assured due consideration.

The assurance came during discussions on issues related to the agricultural supply chain and the broader fiscal policy framework, where stakeholders shared their views on tax and regulatory matters in the Federal Budget 2026-27.

Minister of State for Finance and Revenue, Bilal Azhar Kayani, acknowledged the contribution of the fertilizer distribution network to agricultural productivity and the broader economy, according to APP.

He appreciated the feedback provided by stakeholders and said their recommendations would be reviewed carefully.

He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring a balanced and business-friendly environment through continued engagement with relevant stakeholders.

During the discussions, representatives of the All Pakistan Fertilizer Dealers Association highlighted the role of fertilizer dealers in supplying essential crop inputs across the country and supporting Pakistan’s agricultural sector.

The participants emphasized the importance of aligning fiscal measures with market realities and the operational requirements of fertilizer distribution.

Both sides also stressed the need for continued cooperation and engagement to promote fiscal stability, enhance agricultural productivity, and ensure the smooth functioning of the agricultural supply chain.
