October 26, 2026 (MLN): Consolidated profit after taxation of Ghani Chemical Industries Limited (PSX: GCIL) rose 48.29% year-on-year to Rs783.79m for the three months ended September 30, 2026, compared with Rs528.54m in the same period last year.

Basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) increased 47.31% to Rs1.37 from Rs0.93 in the corresponding quarter last year.

The growth came from a 35% rise in net sales and a 55% jump in gross profit. Higher operating expenses, increased finance cost, a share of loss from associated companies and a nearly three-fold rise in taxation partly offset the gains.

Gross sales grew 34.80% to Rs2.92bn from Rs2.17bn. Sales tax rose 32.05% to Rs436.13m from Rs330.28m, taking net sales up 35.29% to Rs2.49bn from Rs1.84bn.

Cost of sales rose at a much slower pace of 15.82% to Rs1.08bn from Rs929.68m, lifting gross profit 55.21% to Rs1.41bn from Rs908.72m.

Distribution cost increased 31.66% to Rs174.58m from Rs132.61m, while administrative expenses rose 34.70% to Rs115.94m from Rs86.07m. Other expenses grew 59.10% to Rs69.25m from Rs43.53m. Other income rose 20.78% to Rs106.74m from Rs88.38m.

Net of other income, expenses grew 45.57% to Rs253.03m from Rs173.83m.

As a result, profit from operations climbed 57.49% to Rs1.16bn from Rs734.90m.

Finance cost rose 18.35% to Rs163.07m from Rs137.78m. The company also recorded a share of loss from associated companies of Rs19.47m, against a profit of Rs13,000 last year.

Profit before taxation grew 63.26% to Rs974.85m from Rs597.13m. No minimum or final tax levies were booked in either period.

Taxation rose nearly three-fold, up 178.54% to Rs191.06m from Rs68.59m, which absorbed part of the gains and left profit after taxation at Rs783.79m.
