June 12, 2026 (MLN): The federal government has allocated Rs2.478bn for four ongoing projects of the Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Division under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2026-27, which reflect its continued focus on climate resilience, environmental sustainability, green entrepreneurship and climate-smart urban planning.

According to the PSDP 2026-27 document released on Friday, the revised Up-scaling of Green Pakistan Programme has received the lion’s share of the allocation, with Rs2.336bn earmarked for the project.

The government has also allocated Rs40.661m for the revised Strengthening Technical Capacities of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (STC-MoCC&EC) project.

The initiative, approved by the Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP) on June 13, 2025, has a total cost of Rs916.028m.

By June 30, 2026, expenditure is expected to stand at Rs58.605m, leaving a throw-forward liability of Rs857.423m.

In addition, Rs51.6m has been set aside for the project titled “Green Skills for Sustainable Development: Promoting Green Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Pakistan.”

Approved by the DDWP, the project carries a total cost of Rs450m. As no expenditure is expected before June 30, 2026, the entire project cost remains a throw-forward liability.

Another Rs50m has been earmarked for the formulation of a National Urban Strategy and guidelines aimed at reducing the impacts of urban flooding, droughts and other climate-induced disasters, while integrating climate change and disaster risks into spatial planning across the country.

The project was approved by the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) in April 2025 and has a total approved cost of Rs106.401m. The full project cost is expected to be spent by June 30, 2026.

The PSDP document shows that the Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Division’s ongoing development portfolio comprises projects with a combined approved cost of Rs123.619bn.

Total expenditure on these schemes is estimated at Rs35.023bn up to June 30, 2026, while the remaining throw-forward liability stands at Rs42.771bn.

For the fiscal year 2026-27, the government has allocated Rs2.478bn to support the implementation of these four ongoing initiatives.
