November 05, 2026 (MLN): Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has urged exporters to adapt their business models to the requirements of the evolving global economy, stressing greater focus on innovation, productivity, technology adoption and value addition to stay competitive in changing international markets.

He said the government is committed to export-led growth and to strengthening the enabling environment for the private sector, and called for better access to finance, particularly for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), so that a broader base of businesses can take part in the export value chain.

He made these remarks during a meeting with a Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) delegation led by Chairman Rehan Naseem Bharara, held to discuss the sector’s performance, export competitiveness and the overall business environment, said a press release issued.

The discussion covered the business environment for exporters, including energy costs, access to finance and the need to facilitate business activity.

Senator Aurangzeb said continued engagement with industry is important to support export growth, and that close collaboration between government and the private sector would help strengthen industrial competitiveness, encourage modernisation and expand Pakistan’s presence in international markets.

Members of the delegation shared their views on the evolving global trade environment and the need to improve the competitiveness of Pakistan’s export industry.

They stressed the importance of an enabling business environment, better access to finance and continued facilitation of exporters, and highlighted the value of close coordination between government and industry to support businesses, promote growth and help the sector respond to emerging opportunities.

The delegation included President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI); Mr. Khurram Mukhtar, former Chairman PTEA and Group Leader; Mr. Arif Ihsan Malik, Mr. Zia Alamdar, Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA); and Mr. Sohail Afzal, Chairman Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA). Federal Secretary Commerce, along with senior officials from the Finance Division and Tax Policy Office, also attended the meeting.
