Fertilizer offtake increases 44% YoY in April

May 18, 2026 (MLN): Fertilizer consumption in Pakistan witnessed strong performance in April 2026, as overall nutrient offtake increased by 44.1% year-on-year to 320,000 tonnes, according to the latest Monthly Fertilizer Review released by the National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC).

In April, urea offtake was at 563,000 tonnes, registering an increase of 84.9% compared to the same month last year.

 On the other hand, DAP consumption decreased by 10.8%, to 85,000 tonnes.

Nutrient-wise, nitrogen offtake increased by 62%, potash by 55.1% while phosphate decreased by 5%.

Total domestic fertilizer production during April 2026 was 709,000 tonnes. Urea and DAP production was 476,000 and 74,000 tonnes, respectively. Production of other products i.e. NP, CAN, SSP, SOP and NPKs was 76,000, 73,000, 4,100, and 3,100 tonnes, respectively.

Regionally, Urea offtake during April 2026 increased by 66, 232.8, 265 and 14% in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and AJK/GB, respectively while its offtake decreased by 42.3% in KP over April last year

During April 2026, DAP offtake decreased by 22, 30.6 and 66% in Punjab, KP and Balochistan respectively while its offtake increased by 56% in Sindh, over April previous year.

On the pricing front, domestic fertilizer prices of all  products  increased. Urea (Sona) increased by 1.8% to Rs. 4,535 per 50 kg bag, other urea brands went up by 1.4% and prices of DAP, NP, CAN increased by 2.9, 2.4, 1.4 respectively, while SOP increased by 6%.

Internationally, urea and DAP prices went up in key markets such as China and Middle East.
