Fertilizer offtake falls 9.2% YoY in July 2026

August 20, 2026 (MLN): Fertilizer consumption in Pakistan witnessed weak performance in July 2026, as overall nutrient offtake decreased by 9.2% year-on-year to 359,000 tonnes, according to the latest Monthly Fertilizer Review released by the National Fertilizer Development Centre (NFDC).

In July, urea offtake was at 580,000 tonnes, registering a decrease of 4.6% compared to the same month last year. Similarly, DAP consumption decreased by 9.9%, to 96,000 tonnes.

Nutrient-wise, nitrogen offtake decreased by 6.6%, phosphate by 22.7% and potash by 6.2%.

Cumulative nutrient offtake during Kharif 2025-26 (Apr-Jul) was 1,351,000 tonnes, which increased by 0.9% over Kharif 2024-25. Nitrogen and potash offtake increased by 6.8% and 11.4%, respectively, while phosphate offtake decreased by 24.0%.

Total domestic fertilizer production during July 2026 was 768,000 tonnes. Urea and DAP production was 537,000 and 65,000 tonnes, respectively. Production of other products i.e. NP, CAN, SSP, NPKs and SOP was 72, 74, 8.3, 7 and 5.1 thousand tonnes, respectively.

Regionally, urea offtake during July 2026 increased by 5.7% in Punjab while its offtake decreased by 21%, 16.9%, 23.8% and 19% in Sindh, KP, Balochistan and AJK/GB over July last year.

During July 2026, DAP offtake decreased by 8%, 14% and 51% in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan, respectively, while its offtake increased by 101.8% in KP over July previous year.

On the pricing front, domestic fertilizer prices showed mixed trends. Urea (Sona) declined slightly by 0.1% to Rs. 4,646 per 50 kg bag, while other urea brands dropped by 0.1% and prices of DAP and NP decreased by 0.8% and 1.2%, respectively. Meanwhile, prices of SSP (Granular), CAN, SOP and NPK increased by 1.6%, 0.7%, 1.3% and 0.2%, respectively.

Internationally, urea prices witnessed an upward trend in both China and Middle East during the month under review, while DAP prices remained stable in key markets such as Morocco and China.
