October 20, 2026 (MLN): The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has engaged with U.S. Embassy officials to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s mining and minerals sector, focusing on technology transfer, commercially viable projects and direct buyer-seller linkages.
An FPCCI delegation led by President Atif Ikram Sheikh met
with U.S. Embassy representatives to discuss developing Pakistan’s mineral
resources, including copper, gold, gemstones, rare earths and industrial
minerals, into investment-ready projects.
The delegation included Vice President Tariq Jadoon,
Chairman Capital Office Karim Aziz Malik, Muhammad Adil Obaid, Convener of the
FPCCI Committee on Minerals Trade, Investment and Marketing, Deputy Convener
Iftikhar Hussain, and Adil Tasneem, Coordinator to the FPCCI President.
The U.S. Embassy delegation comprised Coordinator Col.
Joshua Khoury, Economic Officer Trevor Earnshaw, Economic Coordinator Anum
Masood, Program Specialist Raja Rafaqat Ali and Defence Attaché Captain Admiral
Naimi.
Speaking at the meeting, FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh
said Pakistan’s mining sector holds trillions of dollars in untapped potential.
He said FPCCI aims to establish a transparent and business-friendly platform
connecting Pakistani miners with American investors.
He added that developing the sector could support job
creation, value addition and export-led economic growth.
Muhammad Adil Obaid briefed the U.S. officials on
investment-ready projects and highlighted the need for modern exploration
technologies, mineral processing capabilities and supply-chain development.
The U.S. Embassy officials appreciated FPCCI’s structured
approach and agreed to explore mechanisms for sustained institutional
coordination, with the FPCCI Capital Office serving as the central facilitation
hub.
The initiative aims to translate strategic interest into
practical economic cooperation, subject to regulatory approvals and mutually
agreed commercial terms.
