FM pushes fast-track DFC support for key projects

July 22, 2026 (MLN): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb held a meeting with representatives of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) in Washington, D.C., to discuss support for Pakistan's priority private sector-led projects.

During the meeting, the finance minister requested expedited DFC support for projects in the energy, information technology, infrastructure, minerals, food and agriculture sectors.

He said the corporation's focus on ports, telecommunications, information technology, energy, minerals, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and supply-chain development aligns with Pakistan's development priorities.

Muhammad Aurangzeb also invited a DFC delegation to visit Pakistan to identify bankable projects and engage with relevant stakeholders in developing viable business plans.

The meeting further discussed the possibility of establishing DFC representation in Pakistan and future engagement with U.S. congressional delegations.

The discussions come as Pakistan seeks to deepen economic engagement with the United States and attract greater investment across key sectors, including energy, mining, infrastructure and information technology.
