July 07, 2026 (MLN): Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb has initiated consultations for the Federal Budget 2027–28 by engaging members of the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) during his visit to Karachi.

The meeting focused on Pakistan's economic outlook, the government's reform agenda, and key economic policy priorities.

The finance minister said the session marked the beginning of consultations for the next federal budget rather than a post-budget review. He added that the government had started the budget preparation process significantly earlier this year to ensure a more structured and consultative approach to fiscal planning.

He reiterated that Pakistan must remain committed to structural reforms to strengthen macroeconomic stability, improve competitiveness, and achieve sustainable economic growth, adding that countries pursuing reform agendas have shown greater resilience amid global economic challenges.

Senator Aurangzeb highlighted that the Federal Budget 2026–27 introduced key taxation and financing measures aimed at supporting exports, improving exporters' access to finance, and reinforcing the government's export-led growth strategy.

The finance minister also reaffirmed the government's commitment to implementing a Medium-Term Tax Strategy, stressing that a stable and predictable tax policy framework is essential to boost business confidence, encourage investment, and facilitate long-term planning.

Representatives of the Pakistan Business Council emphasized the importance of continued engagement between the government and exporters across various sectors, while highlighting PBC's role as a national business advocacy platform supporting export-led economic growth.

The minister concluded by reaffirming the government's resolve to advance structural reforms, maintain policy continuity, and create a conducive environment for investment and sustainable economic development.
