October 29, 2026 (MLN): Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited (PSX: FATIMA) reported a 4% increase in its consolidated net profit for the nine months ended September 30, 2026 (9MCY26), reaching Rs29.96bn compared to Rs28.91bn in the corresponding period last year.

Reflecting this bottom-line performance, basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) for the nine-month period expanded 4% to Rs14.27, up from Rs13.77 in 9MCY25.

For the third quarter (Q3CY26) alone, net profit declined 21% to Rs9.52bn (EPS of Rs4.53) compared to Rs11.98bn (EPS of Rs5.70) in Q3CY25.

The core driver behind the nine-month performance was a 9% expansion in top-line sales alongside healthy gross margin gains.

Net sales rose to Rs194.55bn against Rs178.80bn in 9MCY25. Cost of sales edged up by a modest 2% to Rs116.39bn from Rs114.62bn, allowing gross profit to surge 22% to Rs78.15bn compared to Rs64.18bn in the comparative period.

This expanded the company's gross profit margin to 40.17% from 35.90% in 9MCY25.

On the operational side, overheads expanded as distribution costs grew 11% to Rs14.19bn (up from Rs12.73bn) and administrative expenses rose 29% to Rs9.98bn (up from Rs7.76bn).

Operating profit subtotal after core administrative and distribution expenses rose 24% to Rs53.98bn against Rs43.69bn. Other operating expenses declined 5% to Rs4.15bn compared to Rs4.35bn in the prior-year period.

Below the operating line, finance costs contracted 14% to Rs5.06bn from Rs5.91bn.

However, non-core contributions saw substantial pressure: other income fell 64% to Rs4.61bn (down from Rs12.69bn), while the share of loss from associates widened to Rs484.45m compared to Rs65.61m in 9MCY25.

Consequently, profit before tax rose 6% to Rs48.90bn from Rs46.07bn. Following a corporate taxation expense of Rs18.95bn (up 10% from Rs17.15bn), Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited closed the nine-month period with a consolidated net profit of Rs29.96bn.
