ECNEC approves Rs240bn mega projects nationwide

February 3, 2026 (MLN): The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved four major development initiatives valued at over Rs240bn, aimed to boost infrastructure, skill development, and energy capacity across the country.

The approval came during an ECNEC meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, as reported by APP.

The projects include the expansion of the AFIC-NIHD hospital in Rawalpindi, the Prime Minister’s Youth Skill Development Programme, the Karachi Yellow Line BRT Corridor, and the 34.5 MW Harpo Hydropower Project in Gilgit-Baltistan.

The session was attended by senior federal and provincial officials, including the Finance Minister, Planning Minister, Sindh’s Planning Minister, and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Bajwa.

Secretaries from Planning, Defense, and Water Resources, along with representatives from EAD, Finance, NAVTTC, and other concerned ministries, were also present.

These projects are expected to enhance healthcare services, create employment opportunities, strengthen urban transport infrastructure, and expand renewable energy capacity in the country, marking a significant push in Pakistan’s socio-economic development agenda.
